You are your ONLY competition!

It's easy getting caught up with the success and wins of others by comparing ourselves and feeling like we “𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥'' be further along, or at a certain point in our lives. The highlight reels on social media and societal expectations don’t help either.⁣

I’ve certainly been caught up before in comparison, but who hasn’t. Over the years, as I’ve been on this journey of self-discovery and choosing to prioritize myself, my peace and raise my stsndards, I’ve learned that the only person I can compare myself to is me. ⁣

Learning to appreciate the characteristics, personality traits, qualities and honoring my value and worth. I can’t compare that to someone else, it’s unfair to the woman I am, and continue evolving into.⁣

This is what I intend to remind you as well. ⁣

Life can be tough, but you’re tougher. When those challenges come up, comparison attempts to creep in, remember who you are!

Out of the billions of people on this planet, absolutely no one can duplicate your personality, qualities, skills, talents, and the unique gifts you have to offer. Sure, there will be similarities, but no one is YOU and that’s your superpower.

January is Thyroid Awareness Month

This is a topic near to me since I live with a thyroid disease.

In 2011, I went for a routine physical and my doctor noticed a slight enlargement on the front of my neck where the thyroid gland is located.  At the time, I didn’t notice it nor experience any common symptoms associated with this butterfly shaped gland.  This is unfortunately common as the majority of individuals with thyroid issues aren’t even aware of it.

Over 20 million Americans have thyroid related conditions with the majority being women due to our reproductive health.

After being sent to a specialist and having routine tests I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis which is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the thyroid gland.

I was 25 at the time, healthy and active her entire life and remember feeling a mix of negative thoughts and emotions.

After a few days with the reality now setting in, I accepted this health issue wasn’t happening to me, but for me, and the wake up call inspired me to not only pursue a career in fitness and wellness, but my calling to influence others to become an advocate for their own health and self-care.

Through genetics, lifestyle and the natural aging process we may be dealt or live with conditions that impact our health. But we can choose to be proactive, and take preventative measures and advocate for ourselves.

**Update: I currently meet with my endocrinology team annually and have routine tests to monitor any changes.

Your Privacy brings Peace and Power.

A few week ago, something unexpected and personal came up for me.

I quickly had to navigate, make some arrangements, but in the end everything worked out and worked out 10x better than expected…I am a firm believer it always does! ⁣

What helped, was I didn’t go around telling everyone or come onto social media blasting about it. Privacy is power, it helps to establish healthy boundaries, brings peace and avoids undue stress, judgements, and unsolicited advice from outside sources. ⁣

Of course it’s healthy to vent, we all experience different thoughts and emotions, but talk with a trusted resource then move on. Society thrives off drama, negativity and I refuse to feed into it. ⁣

Everyone has free will to share what they desire, but myself I choose to remain private. ⁣

My intention with social media and in the real world, is to bring value, and share experiences that I believe someone may relate to and/or influence to make healthful changes. Even when those experiences aren’t the greatest I don’t go into detail, but the lesson from it. ⁣

A private life is a peaceful life. ⁣
